Company History and Overview
Surface Transform plc’s core activity is exploiting proprietary technologies to create innovative, lightweight, high energy dissipating braking system materials, which can be commercialised for high-performance applications.
Today, Surface Transforms is commercialising its products for an increasing range of high-performance applications. These include automotive, motorsport and aircraft brakes, for which the company has developed Ceramic brakes with massive weight reduction, ultimate performance and outstanding quality. Other development areas include rocket propulsion components and railway carriage brakes.
The business was founded in 1992 to exploit the potential of new composite manufacturing material technologies developed by ICI plc
Incorporated in 1999, Surface Transforms was introduced to OFEX in December 2000 and was listed on AIM in September 2002
In 2004 the company was restructured to focus on commercialisation of its leading edge proprietary technology in Carbon Ceramic Materials (CCM)
In 2006 we saw the launch of SystemST automotive carbon ceramic brake discs
In 2007 Surface Transforms moved to a new facility of 12,000 sq.ft.at Unit 4, Olympic Park in Ellesmere Port, housing ST's first integrated disc manufacturing plant.
In 2008 ST undertook further capital expansion by investing to introduce it's own Chemical Vapour Infiltration plant CVIST for the manufacture of Carbon-Carbon(C-C) discs. At the end of 2008 ST was accredited with IS9001-2000.
Today ST is one of very few companies in the world that supplies carbon ceramic materials (CCM) on a commercial basis.
